The third biennial Pacific Ocean Pacific Climate Conference takes place between 27 – 30 October 2020. The conference theme is Blue Pacific, Climate Action for Climate Resilience.
The event brings together experts across the fields to explore how countries of the Pacific are responding to the challenge of the Paris Agreement and the impact of climate change for the people of the Pacific.
Penelope Nevill (Twenty Essex) will be speaking on Wednesday 28 October during the Science Technology and Law session moderated by Professor Alberto Costi (Victoria University of Wellington).
Her talk will cover “The new internationally legally binding instrument (ILBI) under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction (BBNJ): current negotiations, prospects and challenges”.
