Andrew Dinsmore instructed on Cathay Pacific data breach

Andrew Dinsmore has been instructed by SPG Law on behalf of another large group of claimants to bring an action against Cathay Pacific following their high-profile cybersecurity breach. This follows Andrew’s recent instruction in the similar British Airways data breach but this case is significantly larger as the data breach affects 9.4 million customers from across the globe.

Andrew practices in high-value, complex commercial litigation and has developed a specialism in cybersecurity issues. He regularly publishes for the Journal of International Banking and Financial Law on this topic and has recently acted in several cases to obtain freezing injunctions following cybersecurity breaches. Andrew also has strong knowledge of cybersecurity regulation and statutes globally.

Several members of 20 Essex Street are active in this area. In July, the Commercial Court granted final proprietary relief and damages at trial in a ground breaking cyber-fraud litigation that saw the first known Worldwide Freezing and Proprietary Injunctions against Persons Unknown. Paul Lowenstein QC and Matthew McGhee, instructed by CYK LLP, acted for CMOC.
