Iain Milligan QC and Julian Kenny have been identified by the Chambers 100 UK Bar as two of the top barristers in the UK. Launched this year by Chambers & Partners, the publication lists the UK’s top 100 silks and 100 juniors following extensive research with clients and solicitors.
Iain Milligan QC is regarded as “one of the best advocates at the London Bar,” having established a commercial practice of considerable distinction. His areas of particular expertise include commercial dispute resolution, banking and finance, and international dispute resolution, and he is valued as a practitioner who offers a “devastating courtroom presence and a completely polished performance however he is attacked.” He recently appeared on behalf of the appellants in Starlight Shipping v Allianz, a successful appeal generating questions concerning articles 27 and 28 of the Brussels Regulation.
Julian Kenny is a shipping and insurance junior of great note whose abilities in the banking and finance world are also recognised. To illustrate the point he appeared in Sea Cargo v State Bank of India, one of the few cases dealing with on demand bonds to reach the Commercial Court, and also appeared in LBIE v LBF, a case arising out of the collapse of Lehman Brothers that made its way to the Court of Appeal. He is “a bright, consumer friendly advocate,” who is “both a good advocate and someone with sound academic qualities.“
