Twenty Essex welcomes back The Rt Hon Lord Justice Gross (Sir Peter Gross) to Chambers today, as a full-time arbitrator, following his departure in 2001 on his appointment to the Bench.
Most recently, he was appointed Lead Judge for International Relations in January 2018 and since 2003 has undertaken many judicial visits abroad, including Jamaica, Guyana, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, USA, Argentina, Jordan, Brunei, Singapore and Uzbekistan.
Duncan Matthews QC, co-head of Twenty Essex, says: “We are very pleased to welcome Lord Justice Gross back to Chambers as an arbitrator. Sir Peter’s impressive record on the Bench followed a terrific career at the Bar. In both his previous careers he stood out for his combination of intellectual excellence and efficiency in case management suffused with a firm but benign and user-friendly approach. This range of qualities will stand him in excellent stead as he embarks on his new career as a full-time arbitrator and mediator. Twenty Essex is privileged that he will be bringing his strengths to bear in Chambers again. He will significantly enhance the excellent arbitration practice at Twenty Essex”.
Sir Peter Gross says: “After 18 wonderful years as a Judge, it is a delight to return to Twenty Essex at this most interesting time for international arbitration. I am most grateful to Chambers for their warm welcome”.
