Monica Feria-Tinta has been appointed to the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s World Commission on Environmental Law.

Created in 1948, IUCN is the global authority on the status of the natural world and the measures needed to safeguard it. It is uniquely composed of both government and civil society organisations. 216 States and government agencies are among its members.

The World Commission on Environmental Law is a network of leading scholars and environmental experts from around the world providing expertise and technical advice to the IUCN, its members, and its collaborating institutions (governments, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organisations, companies and local communities) on all aspects of environmental law including strengthening the capacity of governments, the judiciary, prosecutors, and other stakeholders as they develop and implement environmental law. Their interests and expertise span the full spectrum of environmental law from pollution issues to those related to biological diversity conservation.
