The members of 20 Essex Street are delighted to announce that Stephen Atherton QC and Blair Leahy (formerly of South Square Chambers, Gray’s Inn) will be joining Chambers with effect from 16th January 2012.
Stephen is an acknowledged leader in the field of offshore work and insolvency/restructuring. His cases include MF Global (for various clients of the bank), Bernard Madoff (for the liquidators of various “feeder funds” and other investors), Pioneer Freight Futures (for the UK and the BVI liquidators), Lehman Brothers (for the Hong Kong liquidators and for the company’s landlords and various counterparties and clients), Brunei Darussalam v Prince Jefri (for the Government of Brunei and the Brunei Investment Agency), Northern Rock (for the proposed administrators) and Railtrack (for the administrators). Stephen is also a member of the Bar of the Eastern Caribbean, and has been called to the Bars of Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and the Isle of Man for specific cases as well as having rights of audience in Brunei Darussalam for specific cases.
Blair Leahy is recognised as a leading junior in insolvency and corporate recovery work. She has been involved in many of the high profile corporate collapses over the last ten years including Lehman Brothers (for the US Trustee of Lehman Brothers Inc), Nortel (for a counterparty), Madoff (for the English provisional liquidators), Waterford Wedgwood (for the English administrators) and BCCI (for the English liquidators).
