It is no secret that increasing social mobility at the Bar presents a considerable and persistent challenge, but the Bar Council wants to change that.
Collaborating with the Inns of Court, the Social Mobility Foundation, Sutton Trust (Pathways to Law) and Bridging the Bar, the Bar Council is keen to help improve socio-economic diversity at all levels of the profession, among pupils, junior barristers and silks.
Jemma Tagg, CEO of Twenty Essex, will be attending the Bar Council’s Social Mobility Summit 2023 on Friday 13 July. This half-day summit aims to facilitate greater collaboration across the Bar and support for Bar-based initiatives set up to deliver social mobility, as well as sharing ideas and solutions to the challenges that come with the execution of these programmes.
Twenty Essex is proud to be involved in numerous social mobility initiatives, including paid internships, mini pupillages, mentoring and skills training.
As part of the 10,000 Black Interns scheme, we will be welcoming our intern Jessica Otu to Chambers next week.
