The Hon Charles N. Brower to speak at the 16th Annual ITA-ASIL Conference on March 27 in Washington D.C.

The Honorable Charles N. Brower, Judge ad hoc, International Court of Justice and Arbitrator of 20 Essex Street Chambers, Washington, D.C.  will present the keynote address, on “State Parties in Contract-Based Arbitration: Origins, Problems, and Prospects of Private-Public Arbitration” at the 16th Annual ITA-ASIL Conference: State Parties in Contract-Based Arbitration: The Theory and Practice of Private-Public Arbitration. The conference will be presented on March 27 in Washington, D.C. at the Washington Hilton Hotel by the Institute for Transnational Arbitration’s Academic Council and the American Society of International Law.

The conference will address contract-based investment and commercial arbitration between private parties, on the one hand, and states, state instrumentalities and state-owned entities, on the other. More than 140 participants from the United States and abroad are expected to attend.

Other highlights include:

  • A panel of experts on the Legal Framework of Private-Public Arbitration, and
  • A second panel of experts on the Practicalities of Public Actor Involvement in Contract-Based International Arbitration.
